- We are
an alliance of Reiki Masters.
- We
regard all Masters as equal in the oneness of Reiki.
- We
acknowledge Phyllis Lei Furumoto as a grandmaster in the direct
spiritual lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, and Hawayo
Takata.
- The
purpose of the Alliance is to support us as teachers in the Mikao
Usui System of Reiki. *
- *The
Founding Statements were written in 1983. For the purposes of
this document, Usui Shiki Ryoho refers to the form of our
practice.

- STATEMENT OF
IDENTITY
-
- We are
an international community of Reiki Masters who honor the oneness
of Reiki.
- Each of
us traces our connection to Mikao Usui, through initiation by one
of the Masters in the lineage of Usui, Hayashi, Takata, and
Furumoto.
- We
honor the form of the system known as Usui Shiki Ryoho, as
expressed by the Office of the Grandmaster (OGM), Phyllis Lei
Furumoto as Lineage Bearer and Paul David Mitchell as Head of the
Discipline.
- We come
together to support one another, living and practicing Usui Shiki
Ryoho in our personal lives, in The Reiki Alliance community, and
in the world.

- REQUIREMENTS
OF MEMBERSHIP

Members agree to the following conditions.
- In our
personal lives we:
- *Acknowledge
that practicing daily self-treatment and regularly giving and
receiving treatments is the foundation of an ongoing process
inherent to our spiritual practice.
- *Are
guided by the five Spiritual Precepts in our lives.
- *Accept
responsibility for our choices and actions.
- *Pursue
our ongoing personal growth and spiritual development.
- As
Masters who practice and teach Usui Shiki Ryoho we:
- *Honor
the form of Usui Shiki Ryoho, being mindful of that which is held
sacred and that which is shared openly.
- *Maintain
a clear relationship with our initiating Master as well as with
students and Masters we initiate.
- *Recognize
that as Masters we were initiated to teach first and second
degree, and that the initiation of Masters is an option considered
only after many years of practice as a Master.
- *Recognize
that the passage of time is a factor that influences our
relationship with Usui Shiki Ryoho. Advancing to second degree or
Master level requires growth, readiness, and a suitable time of
preparation.
- *Ask
our members to carefully and responsibly take notice of the
recommendations of the OGM as expressed in the document “Time and
Timing in Usui Shiki Ryoho” in the appendix of this membership
document and to use it as our guide for wisdom.
- As a
community of Masters we:
- *Welcome
the gifts and challenges that flow from the diversity of our
community.
- *Seek
out opportunities to come together as a community, regularly
attending local and international gatherings.
- *Agree
to trust the best intentions of each member, even when we disagree
or do not understand.
- *Agree
to remain engaged with one another, especially during times of
disagreement, supporting our personal growth and that of our
community.
- *Agree
to show respect to others whose ways of being are different,
without ridicule or dismissive speech or behavior.

- MEMBERSHIP
AGREEMENT
-
- *I
pledge myself to engage in a vital and committed practice of Usui
Shiki Ryoho.
- *I
confirm that I was initiated as a Reiki Master by a Reiki Master
who was physically present with me, and that I can trace my Master
initiation lineage to one of the Masters in the spiritual lineage
of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata and Phyllis Lei
Furumoto.
- *I
live my life guided by the five Spiritual Precepts and support the
Founding Statements, the Membership Agreement and the community
values of The Reiki Alliance as described in the Membership
Requirements section of this document.
- *I
agree to abide by the Requirements of Membership.
- *I
agree to honor the form of Usui Shiki Ryoho in my teaching
practice.
- *I
conduct myself as a Master in accordance with the Code of Ethics
of The Reiki Alliance, agreeing to cooperate with the Process for
Resolving Disagreements, and abiding by the findings of the
Arbitration Board.
- *I
agree to abide by the By-Laws of the Reiki Alliance.
- *I
will attend regional gatherings of The Reiki Alliance and the
International Conference as often as possible.
- *I
will pay my accounts when due.
